Launch and haul-out prices: lift, washing and extras

Stegeborg's published 2026 lift prices show how size, standard hours and hull washing affect the total. Compare the full season cost.

A lift isn't always the full cost

For 2026, Stegeborg lists a separate boat lift during regular hours at 1 100 kr up to 32 feet and 1 300 kr for larger boats. These are the yard's own published price examples, not a national average. Hull washing, blocking, storage and lifts outside regular hours can change the total. Also ask whether the price covers one lift or both the autumn haul-out and the spring launch.

Check VAT in the quote; Stegeborg's online price list does not state VAT explicitly.

What the price list actually says

Stegeborg 2026Published price
Lift, up to 32 ft, regular hours1 100 kr
Lift, over 32 ft, regular hours1 300 kr
Hull wash150 kr per metre LOA, lift extra
Haul-out with mast450 kr extra
Outdoor storage250 kr/m², minimum 16 m²; haul-out and launch included

Storage area is calculated as length times beam and rounded up. The same yard lists different prices outside regular hours. Check the current booking before planning around the table.

Weight can matter more than length

Marincenter Loftahammar's 2026 price list uses a different model: a crane lift costs a base price of 1 500 kr plus 250 kr per ton beyond the first. Sublift is listed at 415 kr/ton, and blocking or unblocking at 40 kr/m². Prices include VAT. So don't compare a length-based lift with a weight-based one without sending the same boat details and asking which handling steps are extra.

Do the maths without double-charging yourself

An illustrative example using Stegeborg's published formula: a boat measuring 8 × 3 metres gives 24 m². At 250 kr/m², an outdoor space costs 6 000 kr, with the two seasonal lifts included. Don't add separate lifts on top of that in the comparison. Washing or other extras, however, must be assessed separately.

A comparable hypothetical hull wash for a boat with an 8-metre LoA comes to 1 200 kr at the list price of 150 kr/metre. This is a calculation based on published terms, not a quote. Use the winter storage tool to compare storage.

Information the boatyard needs

  • Boat model, length, beam and current weight with equipment.
  • Draught, keel type, engine/drive and mast, if any.
  • Lifting instructions and sensitive parts where slings must not go.
  • Preferred date and whether the boat will stay at the yard.
  • Any need for washing, boat stands, transport or mast work.

The yard's lifting capacity and access determine whether it can take the boat. Get the basic data from the boat catalogue, but confirm the actual weight and installation. A standard weight may not include equipment added later.

Book the whole package

Compare written totals from boatyards and marinas, with VAT, time windows and cancellation terms clearly stated. Ask what happens if the boat isn't ready on the booked day and who is responsible for blocking and shoring. Stegeborg describes a separate moving fee for boats that aren't ready for their launch week.

Check your insurance cover for lifting and transport, and the yard's liability under the agreement. Also plan to inspect seacocks and through-hulls before launch. A cheap lift doesn't help if the next step in the chain is missing or the boat can't stay on land.

Frequently asked questions

Is launching included in winter storage?

At Stegeborg, haul-out and launch are included in the listed outdoor package. Other yards may charge separately.

Is a wash the same as a lift?

No. In Stegeborg's price list, hull washing is charged per metre LoA, and the lift is extra when booked separately.

Can I use the table as a binding price?

No. It shows published examples. Ask the boatyard to confirm the boat, dates, VAT and all extras in writing.
