Who can advertise?

Private individuals aged 18 or over and businesses may advertise boats, engines, parts and equipment that they own or have the right to sell.

This is not allowed

  • Stolen goods or items you do not have the right to sell.
  • Illegal goods.
  • Misleading listings, for example incorrect price, condition or model.
  • Images or texts that someone else holds the rights to.
  • The same item in multiple listings, or listings that do not relate to an item.

Text and images

You grant Marinpedia the right to display the listing's text and images on the site for as long as the listing remains. You confirm that you have the right to use the images and that they do not infringe anyone else's rights.

Listing review

Listings are reviewed before they are published. We may reject, recategorise or remove a listing that breaches the terms or the law, and we will tell you why.

Report a listing

Every listing has a Report listing link. You can also email us the listing's address and what is wrong. We will review the report and let you know what action we have taken.

Posts about boats and engines

On the boat and engine pages, owners can share their experiences and reply to each other. You need an account and a display name. The name is shown with your post.

  • Write about your own experience of the boat or engine, or ask other owners a question.
  • No advertising. If you're selling something, post an ad.
  • No links.
  • No personal information about others, such as names, phone numbers or addresses.
  • No personal attacks and nothing illegal.

You give Marinpedia the right to display the post on the site for as long as it remains. Posts are owners' own experiences. Always follow the manual for your boat or engine.

Post moderation

All posts and replies are reviewed before they appear. We reject posts that break the terms or the law.

Logbook and Did It Myself

You must hold the rights to the images you publish. Do not show people's faces or registration numbers without consent.

Marinpedia reviews boat pages and Did It Myself posts before publication and may reject or remove content that violates the terms or the law. We will tell you why, and you can ask us to review the decision again via the contact address below.

Report a post

Every post has a Report link. You report with your account or your email. We review the report, and if you gave an email you'll hear what we did.

If we reject or remove a post, we email the person who wrote it. The email says what we did, why and which rule applies. If you think the decision is wrong, you can email us and we will look at it again.

Liability

Marinpedia is not a party to the transaction between buyer and seller. The seller is responsible for the listing and the item. Inspect the item before you pay. Marinpedia is not liable for damage arising from transactions between users, except where required by mandatory law.

Boatyards and quotes

Companies are responsible for their quotes and their work. The agreement is made between the boat owner and the company. Marinpedia is not a party to the agreement and does not handle payment or invoicing.

Reviews can only be left by the owner after a completed job. All reviews are checked before they are shown.

No links are allowed in texts in Varv, such as requests, messages and reviews.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by Swedish law. Disputes are settled by a Swedish court.

Data processing agreement for clubs

The agreement is between the boat club, which is the data controller, and Ivan Verevkin, who runs Marinpedia and is the data processor. The club accepts the agreement when it registers the club in the portal. The content follows Article 28(3) of the GDPR.

  • Items and duration. We process personal data on behalf of the club for as long as the club has an account in the portal.
  • Nature and purpose. Running the club's member register, fees and invoices, payments, watch duty and work days, berths, electricity meters, keys, lifts, winter storage spots, queues, events, notice board and mailings to members.
  • Types of personal data. Name, contact details, address, year of birth, household, boats and insurance dates, berths and agreements, fees and payments, guard duties and attendance, skills entered by the club, keys and tags. We do not store personal identity numbers.
  • Categories of data subjects. Members, membership applicants, members of the same household and subtenants.
  • Instructions. We process the data only on behalf of the club. The club's settings and use of the portal are the instructions. We do not sell any data and do not use it for advertising. If an instruction conflicts with the GDPR, we say so.
  • Privacy. Those who get access to the data at our end are bound by confidentiality.
  • Security. The data is sent encrypted. Access is governed by the role on the board. Secret keys entered by the club, for example for SMS and email, are stored encrypted.
  • Sub-processors. Cloudflare (hosting, database and storage) and Resend (email). 46elks is used only when the club connects its own account for SMS. If we change a sub-processor or add a new one, we notify the club in advance so the club can object.
  • Help with the rights of data subjects. The portal has export, correction and deletion, so the club can respond to a member who requests a copy of their data, a correction or deletion. If a member contacts us, we refer them to the club.
  • Personal data breach. We notify the club without undue delay when we learn of an incident and provide what the club needs for its report.
  • Deletion or return at termination. The club can export everything before the account is closed. After that we delete the data within 30 days. The club itself is responsible for keeping accounting records as required by the Swedish Accounting Act.
  • Review. The club has the right to receive the information needed to show that we follow the agreement, and to audit the processing. hej@marinpedia.se
