How much does winter boat storage cost?

We reviewed the boatyards' own published price lists in October 2026. This is a sample, not a market average. The calculator uses outdoor prices only:

The lowest price per square metre for unheated sheds is calculated from Nyköpings Segelsällskap's example: 7 050 kr for 10 × 3 m, before membership and registration fees. The price lists differ in what they include and how area is calculated. Where VAT is stated, we have used the price including VAT; not all yards state VAT explicitly. Always check with a quote from the yard.

Calculate for your boat

Most boatyards charge by length × beam. A boat measuring 8 × 3 m comes to 24 m². At 300 kr/m², the space costs 7,200 kr for the season – before extras. Some yards add half a metre to the beam or have a minimum charge.

Haul-out and launch

In this selection, separately published lift prices range from 670 to 1 750 kr. Karlsro lists a minimum price of 670 kr by forklift and 1 490 kr by crane for visiting boats. Stegeborg lists 1 100 kr up to 32 ft and 1 300 kr over 32 ft during regular hours. Waxholmsvarvet lists haul-out with pressure washing from 1 750 kr including VAT.

These are example and minimum prices, not a cap for all boats. Size, weight, washing and timing all matter. Haul-out and launching are included in the storage price at Stegeborg, Västvarv and Mälaröarnas Båtvarv, among others; don't add the lift cost again there.

Common add-ons

• Hull washing and blocking.
• Environmental fee, security and electricity.
• Mast crane and mast storage.
• Engine winterization – required for indoor storage at some yards.
• Higher price for haul-outs outside the regular weeks.

Examples from the price lists

• Karlsro Marin: outdoors 165 kr/m²; security and environmental fees extra. The yard adds 0.5 m to both length and beam in its pricing example.
• Nyköpings Segelsällskap's yard: outdoors from 197 kr/m² including haul-out, launch and pressure wash. Membership and registration fees extra.
• Stegeborg: 250 kr/m² outdoors including haul-out and launch; minimum charge 16 m².
• Västvarv: 240–400 kr/m² outdoors at four facilities in Göteborg. Beam is increased by 0.5 m and a 5% environmental fee is added.
• Mälaröarnas Båtvarv: 441 kr/m² outdoors; beam is increased by 0.5 m and the minimum charge is 20 m².
• Waxholmsvarvet: unheated shed 800 kr/m² including VAT. Haul-out with pressure wash from 1 750 kr and launch from 1 000 kr including VAT are charged separately.

1. Ask for a written quote with dimensions, type of storage and a list of what's included.
2. Convert everything to a total price for the season.
3. Ask about VAT, extras and what happens if the boat stays longer in the spring.
